Joan Marie McGarry

Joan Marie McGarry, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 20, 2014 in Hackensack, NJ. Born in Albany, NY, Joan grew up in Teaneck, NJ before moving to Emerson, NJ where she lived for the majority of her life. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, and activities involving the church. Joan was a devoted, faithful communicant of R.C. Church of the Assumption in Emerson for 50 years. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, both for recreation and as a profession.

Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband, John, as well has her brother Gerard Smith. She is survived by her loving children Jean Palmer (Adam), Karen Stugart (Craig), John J. McGarry, Marie Grieco (Todd), Nancy Falotico (Tom), and Marilyn Falotico (Rich). She also leaves behind her 20 adoring grandchildren, her brother John Smith, and her sister Margaret Rosito.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23 from 7-9 PM and again on Thursday, April 24 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Becker Funeral Home 219 Kinderkamack Road Westwood NJ. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, April 25 at 10AM at the R.C. Church of the Assumption, Emerson, with interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hackensack.
