

Born in Newark, NJ, he attended Grover Cleveland High School in Caldwell before graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1961 where he received a BS in Business Education and Accounting. John had an illustrious and distinguished 34-year career at Northern Valley Old Tappan High School as a business teacher and coach.
He was head volleyball coach for 16 years, where he led his teams to 12 conference championships, and 8 State Group 3 championships. He holds the school’s record for most volleyball victories with 316. John served as head basketball coach for 14 years where he won 4 conference titles. He was also assistant baseball coach for 29 years.
John received many coaching honors including Area Coach of the Year, NJSIAA Sport Award Recipient, and induction into both the Old Tappan High School Hall of Fame and NJSCA Hall of Fame.
Despite all the championships and awards, John’s greatest satisfaction was seeing his student athletes grow academically, emotionally and socially.
Retired in June 1995, John moved to Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head, SC in 1997 where he was an active member of Saint Francis by the Sea Catholic Church, played golf, and always enjoyed frequent visits from close friends he taught with at NVOT.
Prayer service and interment will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield, NJ on Tuesday, June 18 at 10am
