

John C. Kucks, Jr., 81 years old of Hillsdale, NJ passed away on October 31, 2013. Born in Hoboken, NJ, John has been a resident of Hillsdale for 50+ years. He served his country in the US Army and after became a pitcher for the New York Yankees and won the final game of the 1956 World Series between the Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers, shutting out the Dodgers 9-0 at Ebbets Field, which was the last World Series game ever played in that stadium. John was also the last pitcher to face Jackie Robinson. After his baseball career, he became a stock broker and then later retired as an account executive for CSX, NYC, NY.
He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Daum) Kucks in 2006 and is survived by his daughters, Laura-Jean Arvelo and Rebecca Gattoni and her husband Tom and his grandchildren, Kierstin, Kelly, Katie and Jessica.
Funeral from the Becker Funeral Home on Monday 10am with a 11am funeral service at Hillsdale United Methodist Church, Hillsdale, NJ. Interment will follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday 2-6pm at the funeral home. In lieu flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Villa Marie Claire Hospice and Palliative Services in his memory.
