John Patrick Mockler

John Patrick Mockler, 74, of New York, NY, and longtime resident of Hillsdale, NJ, died April 30, 2018. John is the only son of Martin and Mary Mockler, brother to Peggy Mockler. Devoted husband and father to the late Peggy Lynn Mockler for 45 years; Sean Mockler, Meredith Mockler, Ryan Mockler. But most importantly, He was the greatest Pop Pop to 5 Grandsons; Justin Meyers, Jack Hillman, John and Joseph Mockler, and James Workman. Graduate of Incarnation School, Washington Heights, NY. John started his career as a carpenter in Union 608 until landing as a bridge painter for the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey in October 1970, where he served faithfully for over 32 years. John was a proud man, with strong Irish roots. A fierce athlete, who enjoyed not only playing sports, but coaching his children and the neighborhood kids as well. After retirement, you found him taking care of his home, enjoying his back porch and watching his Grandkids grow.

Viewing will be held this Thursday, May 3rd, at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road Westwood, NJ, from 5pm-9pm. The Funeral Mass celebrating John’s life and faith will be on Saturday, May 5th, at St. John the Baptist R. C. Church, 69 Valley Street, Hillsdale, NJ, at 10 am.
