Joyanna Marie Peros (nee Milo), 36, of Spotswood, NJ, formerly of Westwood, NJ, sadly passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020. Beloved wife of Mark Peros. Devoted mother of Julianna and Thomas and step-mother to Christina Columbo. Beloved daughter of Nicholas and Brenda Milo. Cherished sister and sister-in-law of Adam and Denise Milo, Todd and Amy Milo, and Sabrina Lawrence. Adored aunt of Gianna, Adam, Amanda, Nicholas, Danielle Milo and Sierra and Sophia Lawrence.
Joyanna graduated from Westwood High School in 2002. Also that year, she was awarded the Gold Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Girl Scouts of America. She was a member of the John Harms Performance Company for four years. Her love of song and dance brought "joy" to many. She went on to earn her Bachelors Degree in Communication from SUNY Cortland in 2006. She was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. She went on to receive a Masters Degree in Education/Special Education from the College of St. Elizabeth. Her love for teaching challenged students was only surpassed by the deep connection she felt with them. But her greatest "joy" and sense of accomplishment was being a wife to Mark and Mom to Julianna and Thomas.
As grief stricken as we are, we will remember Joyanna’s laugh, her beautiful smile, her kindness to all who met her, and her devotion to family and friends. We lost a daughter, sister, wife, mother and best friend. What we have gained is peace in knowing that she fought the good fight for many years with courage, grace, and determination to stay with us for as long as she could. However, the Fight for the Cure is ongoing. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, NJ Chapter, 111 Littleton Rd., Suite 221, Parsippany, NJ, 07054 or at www.cff.org.
The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ on Friday, June 11th, 2021 from 12-4 and 7-9PM with a Celebration of her life and faith to take place at 3PM. Additionally, a Celebration of Joyanna's life and faith will be held on Saturday, June 12th, 2021 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 367 Cranbury Rd., East Brunswick, NJ 08816 at 12PM.
