On January 31, Elizabeth “Lucy” Inglese reunited with the love of her life, her beloved husband, John, to continue their journey together. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lucy’s warmth and unwavering love for her family were at the heart of everything she did.
Born to the late Richard and Alice Tarpinian, Lucy was the sister of the late Rose Kaloostian (and her late husband, Andy), the late Marion Ellman (and her late husband, Bob), and Barbara Sodano, who survives her along with her husband, Sammy.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Susan Sommer and her husband Joe, Patricia Bertelli, John Inglese Jr. and his wife Luiza, and Lori Ann Stark and her husband Dustin. Her grandchildren—Christyn, Tony, John III, Megan, Alexandra, Gianna, and Dustin Jr.—brought her endless joy, as did her great-grandchildren: John, Alex, Amber, and the baby on the way, whom she would have surely adored beyond measure.
Lucy loved spending summers in Bricktown, sitting out back, watching the boats go by, and enjoying time with her family and friends. She treasured her time with her grandchildren, caring for them throughout the years and watching them grow—it was one of her greatest joys.
Lucy also found happiness in the thrill of a slot machine, playing cards with her friends, cheering on the Yankees and Giants, and, without fail, eating a Whopper Junior every day! And, of course, she doted on her beloved cat, Anush, who was showered with affection just as much as any of her grandkids.
In recent years, Lucy discovered a new love for animals, finding great joy in them in ways she had never experienced before. In honor of her newfound joy, donations may be made to The Last Resort Wildlife Refuge in lieu of flowers.
Known for her sweetness but never without a bit of sass, Lucy had a sharp wit and a sense of humor that often included a well-placed hand gesture or two (if you know, you know). She will be missed dearly, but her love and traditions will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Sunday, February 9 from 1-5PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Elizabeth's life and faith will be held at Church of the Presentation, Upper Saddle River, NJ on Monday, February 10 at 10AM. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories, Twp. of Washington, NJ.
