Maria Ferrara

Maria Ferrara, 93, of Norwood, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025 with her family by her side. She was born on February 24, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the eldest of four children. She is survived by her siblings, Josephine Eaione, Frank Sorrentino, and Sylvia Grimaldi.

Maria is predeceased by her husband Frank, who was the love of her life. They were married for 72 wonderful years. Maria and Frank grew their family and were devoted parents to Lenore Modugno (Antonio), Lorene Esposito (Gaetano) and Alfonso Ferrara. She was the loving grandmother to Serafina Salemi (John), Maria Ciaburri (Chris), Teresa Scalora (Aldo), Nunzio Esposito (Emily), Gina Ventresca (Tony), Sophia Walden (Chris), Frankie Ferrara and Alfonso Ferrara. Maria is predeceased by her granddaughter, Leah Esposito. She was the proud great grandmother to Lenore, Pasqaule, Giosefina, Antonia, Enza, Jeily, Lorenzo, Leah, Marcello, Lucia, and Francesca.

Maria helped in the family business Ferrara & Son, located in Teaneck, NJ, where she assisted her husband process custom orders for blinds and shades. She was also the receptionist for Dr. Scilingo, a chiropractor, for 30 years and developed friendships with the patients.

Maria enjoyed life to the fullest and was always ready for an adventure. Maria looked forward to vacationing in Florida, being in the sun by her pool, spending summers in her Long Island Beach House and day trips to Atlantic City. She was a trendsetter, crafting the perfect outfit or finding the right jewelry piece to complement. Maria loved animals, especially her Poodles and Great Danes. What Maria cherished most was her family; she cared for them deeply and always shared her love, wisdom, and advice. May God rest Maria’s beautiful soul.

A visitation for Maria will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675. A mass of Christian burial will occur Thursday, September 11th at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 211 Summit St, Norwood, NJ 07648. A committal will occur Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 11:45 AM at Madonna Cemetery & Mausoleum, 2070 Hoefleys Ln, Fort Lee, NJ 07024. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Charles Ferrara.
