Maria Luisa Negrin of Hoboken, New Jersey passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, June 19th. Born in Cuba, she immigrated to the United States in 1967, became a resident of Hoboken and a parishioner of the R.C. Church of Our Lady of Grace & St. Joseph. In later years she also attended Ss Peter & Paul R.C. Church. She was a supporter of numerous religious charities.
Maria was predeceased by her loving husband, Ydilio Negrin, her parents, Juan and Teresa Rojas, her sister, Irene Reinoso and her brothers in-law, Adalberto Becerra, Carlos Guerra and Eloy Reinoso.
She is survived by her children Dania Catalano (Frederick Catalano) of Texas and her son Luis Negrin (Zakia Shawy) of New Jersey. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren Ariana Catalano, Nick Catalano, Desiree Negrin and Joseph Negrin. She is also survived by her sister and lifelong best friend Gudelia Becerra of Hoboken, her sister Juana Guerra of Pennsylvania, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and neighbors whom she loved dearly.
Maria’s strong Catholic faith, spirit and love of her family, friends, Hoboken and the Jersey Shore towns and beaches will be remembered by her loved ones.
The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ on Monday, June 23rd, 2025 from 4-8PM. A Celebration of Maria's life and faith will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 24th at 10AM with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ to follow.
