MARY ANN (MOLLY) CLEMENT died at her home in Harrington Park, NJ on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. She was 87. Beloved wife of Joseph E. Clement (deceased). Loving mother of Jeannie, Kateri, and Maria. Dear sister of George (deceased), Frank (deceased), Yvonne (deceased), Clare (deceased), Bertha Jeanne (“Teeny”) (deceased), Robert (deceased), Anne and Joan. Devoted grandmother of Oudou, Rachid, Ibrahim, Hadjara (“Ouwani”), and Nasser Kalla; Tehya and Matilda Backus-Clement and Nathaniel Backus. Delighted great-grandmother to Aaliyah and Naima. Loving mother-in-law of Rodman F. Backus and Moutari Kalla.

Born in Detroit, Michigan she lived in Bergen County, New Jersey for almost 60 years. Molly was a Montessori pre-school teacher, founder/director of The Montessori House in Tenafly, NJ, lecturer, teacher-trainer, and consultant with the American Montessori Society. Molly loved babies and children; flowers and gardens; Broadway plays and musicals; lively discussions of politics, theology, and theories of education; singing and harmonizing; and traveling the world. She was ready to listen, love and laugh with so many who crossed her path and will be dearly missed. 



A visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 13th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Becker Funeral Home (219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood). A Mass celebrating Molly’s life will be celebrated on Saturday the 14th at 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Victories, 150 Harriot Ave., Harrington Park, NJ. Inurnment to follow Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Ave., Mahwah, NJ.
