He was working at IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY when he met Jean through a mutual friend at a volleyball game. His future jobs took them to Lewistown, PA, where their daughter, Anne, was born. Then to Lake Jackson, TX for 10 years. They returned to the northeast in NJ where he lived and worked as a chemist at BASF until he retired in 2012.
He volunteered at the River Vale Public Library in their adult literacy program and was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award in 2002. He donated blood, platelets, and plasma regularly.
