On Thursday, June 13th, 2019, Pauline Cresanti of Emerson, NJ passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 92. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Brovero; her loving husband Vincent Cresanti; brother Daniel Brovero and sister Virginia Syracuse. She is survived by her daughters Joanne Moriarty and husband Michael and Carol Cresanti; her beloved granddaughter Brittany Moriarty; her sister in-law Donna Brovero; her brother in-law Charles Cresanti as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pauline grew up in Englewood, NJ, where as a youth she enjoyed ice and roller skating, horseback riding and dance. She had a very close bond with her parents. She also loved to read; often telling the story of how reading Mary Shelley's Frankenstein got her hooked on horror stories and films, which intrigued her for the rest of her life. This also led to her obsession with true crime stories.
Pauline married Vincent "Vinny" Cresanti on October 30th, 1950 and they remained a team until his passing in June of 2015, just four months shy of their 65th wedding anniversary. In 1954, they moved into their house on Pine Drive in Emerson, NJ, where they were the first and sole owners; creating that house into a home. Pauline had an incredible love of family and was little she wouldn't do for them.
Pauline loved her holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Halloween and Independence Day were her favorites. The table Pauline and Vinny would set at Thanksgiving will be etched in the memories of all who had the pleasure to sit at it. She was a patriot that loved her country and had a passion for the Civil War and it's history. She travelled the country visiting Battlefields and historical sites of the war and early Americana. Despite not being a fan of the sun, Pauline and her family would spend two weeks of every August in Long Beach Island; where lifetime memories were created. She would swim with her white bathing cap bobbing in the waves, go crabbing, eat clams on the half shell, take long walks on the beach and make trips to the boardwalk in Seaside Heights, NJ.
Pauline had a love for football; going to every Emerson High School game, even though she had no son on the team. Pauline and Vinny also shared season tickets for the New York Giants and wouldn't miss a game for anything. Everyone who knew her can still hear her cheering them on to beat their nemesis the 'Dal-Ass' Cowboys, as she liked to call them. She was also a big baseball fan and loved her New York Yankees. She would be known to show up at weddings and funerals with a transistor radio so she could hear the scores and all the men would be in a circle around her. She also loved horses; going to Saratoga, NY every year and making many trips to Monmouth Park in Oceanport, NJ. She did not go to bet, but to marvel at the beauty of the horses and the proud jockeys in their silks upon their backs.
People that had the pleasure of knowing Pauline would know her unfiltered, blunt, opinionated and tough exterior only masked a heart of gold. Nothing mattered more to her than her family and her home. Her feistiness, gift of gab, love of country and family as well as eagerness to provide for her children and granddaughter will leave a huge hole that cannot be filled in their hearts. She was one tough lady with a warm heart and loving smile that will be missed dearly.
We love you Mom!! Rest in Peace.
