Penny (Muriel Arberry) Terzini, a radiant soul whose warmth and laughter touched all who knew her, peacefully passed away at home on February 21, 2025, at the remarkable age of 99. Surrounded by her loving family, she left this world as she lived in it—wrapped in love.
Born and raised in Plymouth, England, Penny’s journey led her to a love story for the ages when she met Jim Terzini during WWII, the man who would become her devoted husband. Together, they built a life filled with love and family, first in England and then in Jim’s hometown of Palisades Park, New Jersey.
Penny was predeceased by her beloved Jim and her son-in-law, Ronnie Shingelo. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her daughter, Judi Shingelo, and her son, Jim (Diana Micich) Terzini. She was the cherished grandmother of Lisa (Pete) Battinelli, Ronnie (Jennifer Perry) Shingelo, Ali (Ray) Kuemmer, Kacey (Rami) Mamari, and Zak Terzini. Her heart swelled with joy for her great-grandchildren: Grace, Ava, Chloe, Maddie, Layla, Alessia, and Enzo.
Penny worked at Texagon Mills in Ridgefield, NJ. Though her job was part of her life, it was her joyful spirit, kindness, and unwavering optimism that truly defined her. She always had a smile to share, a kind word to offer, and an energy that made others feel at ease. Her positive attitude and friendly nature left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Dancing was one of Penny's greatest passions. Though she once dreamed of becoming a Radio City Rockette, she found her stage later in life. At 74, she laced up her tap shoes and joined the Calendar Girls, bringing joy to seniors and community groups across South Jersey. She especially beamed with pride marching in Columbus Day parades, radiating the same enthusiasm and grace that made her so beloved.
Yet, above all else, Penny’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent together, whether gathered by the pool or simply enjoying each other's company. She had a rare gift for making people feel special, her warmth filling every room she entered. Her fun-loving, lighthearted nature was contagious and she lived each day with a heart full of gratitude. Penny’s light will never dim in the hearts of those who loved her. Her laughter, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
Cremation services were held privately. A memorial mass to celebrate her extraordinary life will be held at Our Lady of Victories Church in Harrington Park at 10:00 AM on Saturday April 5th, the eve of her 100th birthday.
In honor of Penny’s generous and loving nature, memorial donations may be made to stjude.org.
Rest peacefully, sweet Penny. Your dance continues in our hearts.
