

Robert, 78 of Westwood, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Sunday, December 13, 2015. Born in Oradell, NJ, to Frank B. Saul and Lena (Loennecker), he lived his entire life in Westwood. An active parishioner of The Church of Assumption in Emerson for many years, where he served as a Eucharist Minister. He was a retired police lieutenant with the Westwood Police Department where he served for 32 years. Bob was also a retired life member of Westwood Fire Department for over 40 years where he served as Chaplain, secretary of the Relief Association and treasurer of the department. He proudly served our country in the Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He was a dedicated family man who is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Madeline J. (Maddy) Esposito, father of son Robert J. and his wife, Kimberly, Kevin M. and his wife Andrea, daughter Allison M. McNeice and husband James and his beloved grandchildren, Robert and Michael Saul, Jack and Charles Saul and Sean and Joseph McNeice. Also brother Frank (Pep) Saul and his wife Mary, brother-in-law Leon deStefan and sister-in-Law Barbara Saul along with many nieces and nephews. Bob was pre-deceased by his parents, brothers, Benjamin, Charles, William, Martin and sisters, Ann deStefan and Mary Ann McGill. In retirement, Bob enjoyed playing golf and being with his family, especially his grandchildren. The family will receive their family and friends on Monday December 14th from 3-8 pm at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ. Westwood Volunteer Fire Department service at 7 pm. Funeral Liturgy at Church of the Assumption, 29 Jefferson Ave., Emerson, NJ on Tuesday at 10 am. Interment Westwood Cemetery, Westwood, NJ. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the Westwood Fire Department, 93 Center Ave, Westwood, NJ 07675, Church of the Assumption or Valley Hospice, 15 Essex Road, Suite 3, Paramus, NJ 07652.
