

Thea (Massara) Mino, 91 of Emerson, NJ passed away February 4, 2012. Born on February 7, 1920 in Candelo, Italy. At the age of 7 her mother Elizabeth, father Guiseppe and brother Freddie went to America leaving Thea with her grandmother, Two years later, in 1929, Elizabeth returned to Italy to bring Thea to America. In Genoa due to a visa issue, Thea was unable to enter the ship until a Roman Catholic nun, seeing how upset both Thea and Elizabeth were, asked what was wrong. With the nuns assistance they quickly boarded the ship. On December 18, 1941 Thea married Eddie J. Mino in New York City. Right after the wedding they flew to North Conway New Hampshire were Eddie tended bar at a ski resort. A few months later Eddie entered the service so Thea returned to New York, staying with her parents. They moved to Emerson in 1958, residing there for 54 years. Thea was predeceased by her husband Eddie and her brother Freddie. She is survived by her sons, Barry J. Mino and his wife Barbara, David Mino and his wife Carol and Douglas E. Mino and his wife Joy, her grandchildren; Keith, Emily, Christopher, Joseph, Ryan, Nicholas and Liana. Visiting hours are Wednesday 10-11am at the Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ. Funeral service 11am at the funeral home with the interment to follow at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Fair Lawn, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emerson Ambulance Corps., 1 Municipal Place, Emerson, NJ 07630 in her memory.
