Theresa Hines

Theresa Marie Hines, “Terry” (nee Amato), 81, of Woodcliff Lake, NJ, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Theresa is survived by her loving husband Everett Hines; her daughter Irene Hines and her husband Chris Mendler; her son Robert Hines and his wife Meredith; her grandchildren Christopher and Jonathan Mendler and Madison and Brooke Hines; her brothers, Paul and Louis Amato; and many loving relatives and dear friends. She was recently predeceased by her cherished daughter, Sandra Hines and is predeceased by her sister, Mary Sekel.

Theresa was born in Scranton, PA. She grew up in Jersey City, NJ and graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth. She was employed as a microbiologist for CIBA Pharmaceutical Company. Theresa married Everett in 1968 and they started their lives together in Edison, NJ. Once starting a family, they moved to Woodcliff Lake where they raised their three children. They were blessed to be married for 57 years.

Terry was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She positively impacted so many lives with her generosity and unconditional love. She was a pillar of strength and was there for every milestone in her children and grandchildren’s lives. Her legacy is truly her children and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy and her spirit will live on in each of them every day. She will be dearly missed by everyone whose lives she touched.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ on Saturday, December 20th. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30am followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10:30am. Interment will immediately follow at Westwood Cemetery in Westwood, NJ.
