

Vicente Paul Puig, Sr., 88, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020, in Homestead, Florida. Husband of 53 years of the late Virginia Puig (nee Rodriguez), Vicente was born in Havana, Cuba on May 4, 1932. He was the son of Vicente and Celia Goyenechea Puig. Vicente graduated from Ruston High School in Havana, Cuba and came to the United States with his wife, Virginia, and their two young children in 1960. Vicente was the US founder of La Cena Fine Foods, the Spanish Food Importing and Distributing Company that his father had established in Cuba. Vicente had the rare privilege of working alongside both his father and his son. Vicente carried the beat of the music of his homeland and his love of water views with him throughout his life. He was a proud member of the New Jersey Free Cuba Task Force and an officer of the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce.
Vicente is survived by three children, Virginia and her husband Raymond Dolan, Vincent Jr. and his wife Jolene Puig, and daughter, Victoria Puig. Vicente was blessed with three grandchildren, Christine, Lauren, and Andrew. He is also survived by his sister, Martha Puig Selaya and her husband, Antonio Selaya, and 6 nieces and nephews.
Mass services for immediate family will be held in both Florida and New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital @ Stjude.org/Donate
