Vincent James Ficarra

Vincent James Ficarra, 94, of Westwood, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. He was born on April 4, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Anthony and Angelina Castagna Ficarra. He was predeceased by his brother, Anthony Ficarra, Anthony’s wife, Elinor, and his goddaughter, Victoria.

Vincent James leaves behind his devoted nieces, Bernadette Morello and her husband, Jim, Christine Lyons and her husband, Jim and his great nephew and nieces, Everett and Emerson Lyons and Michelle Sharpe. He is also survived by many of his cherished cousins and other close family members.

Vincent worked for the NY Telephone company for 30 years before retiring. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, 50 Plus Club and the Telephone Pioneers. He was a very active parishioner of St. Andrew R.C. Church, Westwood, NJ where he served in many ministries including serving as a Eucharistic Minister. Jim, as he was affectionately called by his family, enjoyed photography, especially taking 3-D stereo slides that his family will cherish for years to come.

The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Monday, September 27 from 3-7PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Vincent’s life and faith will be held at St. Andrew R.C. Church, 120 Washington Avenue, Westwood, NJ on Tuesday, September 28 at 11AM. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, NY.
