William Stone Zimmermann

ZIMMERMANN, William S., 87, of Montvale, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. He was born in Hackensack, NJ to George and Sarah Zimmermann. Beloved husband of Beatrice Zimmermann. Devoted father of Maureen Viehmeyer, Paul Zimmermann and his wife Denise and the late June Zimmermann. Dear brother of Sally Hall. He is predeceased by his brother, Robert Zimmermann and his sister, Ruth Leonard. Loving grandfather of Douglas Viehmeyer, Stephen, Sara and Christopher Zimmermann and Erin Phillips. He is also survived by three cherished great grandchildren. After graduating from Lafayette College, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard during the earliest and arguably the most perilous stage of the Cold War. He worked for B-D, Franklin Lakes, NJ, which allowed him to experience living in Mexico City and Rio Brazil. He was both President of the local chapter of the Lions Club as well as the President of the NJ Blind Association for the Blind. The Funeral Service celebrating the life and faith of Bill will be held on Friday, January 27 at 10AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Montvale, NJ. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Hackensack, NJ. The family has respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Bill’s name to either the NJ Council for the Blind or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
