

Amelia “Mama” (Bell) Dombrowski, 96, of Newington, beloved wife for 67 years of the late John W. Dombrowski, Sr., peacefully passed away at home in the company of her loving family on Monday, October 3, 2016. Born in Hartford on December 15, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Lena (Crivelone) Bell and had lived in Newington since 1957. She was a 1937 graduate of William H. Hall High School in West Hartford. Prior to her retirement, Mama worked at CIGNA for many years. She was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Newington and was a lifelong blood donor who gave many gallons of blood through the years. Mama enjoyed reading and trips to the casinos and she was an avid fan of the UCONN women’s basketball team. More than anything, however, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by her two sons, Peter J. Dombrowski and wife Phyliss of Manchester and Atty. John W. Dombrowski, Jr. and wife Mary Ellen of Wethersfield; her seven adored grandchildren, Kimmy Dombrowski, Sandy Morrissey, Kristin Dombrowski, Allison Dombrowski, John W. Dombrowski, III, Jill DeLisa and husband Justin and Matthew Noeker and wife Danielle and five cherished great-grandchildren, Nichole and Brittany Morrissey, Jake and Avery DeLisa and Blake Noeker. In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Helen Pandolfe of Old Saybrook and Evelyn Lucerini of Rocky Hill, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by her sister, Florence Fiume and her daughter-in-law, Joann Dombrowski. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hartford Healthcare Hospice, especially Mama’s caregivers, Margaritta and Kimmy for the devoted care, love and compassion given to Mama and her whole family.
The funeral is Friday (October 7) at 9 a.m. from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 626 Willard Ave., Newington. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
