Amparo "Ampy” a.k.a. "Paring" (Cruz) Encarnacion, 81, of Wethersfield, the beloved widow of Antonio “Tony” R. Encarnacion since August 16, 2022, peacefully entered into God’s care on Thursday, April 24, 2025. She was born in Marikina, Philippines, and was the beloved daughter of the late Teodoro and Teofila (Alvarez) Cruz. After graduating from the Philippine College of Commerce (PCC), she married Tony and immigrated to the United States in 1969. The couple initially settled in Chicago, where they lived and raised their family for 33 years. Later, they moved to San Bernardino, California, and remained there until 2022, when Ampy relocated to Wethersfield to be closer to her children. Ampy had a deep love for family, food, and faith. She was known for her warm hospitality and her incredible home-cooked meals, always shared generously with friends and loved ones. Her joy was found in the laughter around her kitchen table and in the traditions she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her compassionate spirit and remarkable strength. Her grace and quiet resilience inspired everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her daughter Tina and spouse Janine, son Joey and spouse Jackie and three grandchildren, Lu, Matteo, and Kai. Her three surviving sisters, Elena, Anita, and Delta, will greatly miss her, as will the many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of dear friends whose lives she impacted in countless ways.
Please join the family in celebrating Ampy's life on Saturday, May 3, with a time of visitation from 9-11 a.m. concluding with a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. The committal service will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ampy’s memory may be made to the National Lupus Foundation (lupus.org)
