Angela (Angelillo) Cirigliano, 92, passed on April 7, 2024. Born in Hartford to Nicola and Francis (Rinaldi) Angelillo. She is a sister to Rose Cirigliano, Clara Gentile and Nicholas Angelillo. She is married to Joseph F. Cirigliano, Jr., with whom she raised a family, her sons Michael, Joseph III, Bryan and Nicholas. They moved to Newington in 1967 and her love of life and family continued with Michael and wife Marie, Joseph and wife Debbie, Bryan and wife Patty. The love of becoming a grandmother to Michael Jr. and Adam, Joseph IV and Jamie, Megan and Lindsay only continued as the Gigi of Jordan, Brynn and Benjamin.
The young mother was a bowler with her husband, and won numerous tournaments and was in a woman’s only league early on. She performed on the stage while being active with St. Luke’s Church in Hartford and later a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Newington.
Angela worked at Phoenix Mutual early on and later in life with Bank of America, where she retired from.
Retirement led to traveling, but family was always where her heart was. She was a strong woman who dealt with adversity and pain, dealing with the loss of her son Bryan and her husband so close together, continuing to keep her family together and staying the matriarch until the beginning stages of dementia slowly started to take her away from her family. Angela was Love and Love will be her legacy, because as her favorite singer Tom Jones sang, "Without Love I have nothing, nothing at all."
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church of Annunciation Parish, 626 Willard Avenue, Newington. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington.
