

Angelo S. Carrabba, M.D. 69, of Bloomfield (formerly of West Hartford), husband of the late Catherine B. (Montana) Carrabba, and devoted partner of 26 years to Jane Formica, passed away suddenly, Saturday, June 24, 2017 at his home. He was born in Hartford on August 26, 1947 and was the son of the late Salvatore R. Carrabba, M.D. and Gloria C. (Torregrossa) Carrabba. Dr. Carrabba was a prominent Obstetrician-Gynecologist in the greater Hartford area and was a valued member of the St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center where he practiced for over 35 years and where he served as a Board member and President of the medical staff. He delighted in his role as mentor to many of the faculty and residents in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition to his lifelong dedication to his patients and the medical profession, Dr. Carrabba also served as the only two-term President of the Connecticut State Medical Society. He was also a Board member and President of Hartford County Medical Association, a Board member and Secretary/Treasurer of MedServ of Connecticut, Inc., Delegate to the American Medical Association (AMA), President to the AMA New England Delegation, President and Chairman of the Board of H.A.V.E.N. (Healthcare Professional Addiction Services), President and Chairman of the Board to E-Health Connecticut, a member of the Board of Mt. Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital and a member of the board of Connecticut State IPA and he was also a member to numerous professional and charitable organizations. Dr. Carrabba was passionate in his dedication to his family and friends. He was an extraordinary cook, enjoyed boating and gardening, and above all else, he was a devoted grandfather to his ten beloved grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Gloria Sarkisian and husband Robert, Salvatore Carrabba and wife Alessandra, Catherine Sardilli and husband Devin, Mia Angela Sardilli and husband Jason, Stephen Carrabba and wife Catherine. His precious grandchildren, Matteo and Olivia Carrabba, R. Alexander and Talia Sarkisian, Isabella and Lilliana Sardilli, Alessia and Lucia Sardilli, Giulia and Amelia Carrabba. He is also survived by his sisters, Antoinette Carrabba, Petrina Russolillo and husband Gary, Gloria Nozko and husband, Henry Jr., and Mary Pettinato and husband Anthony as well as several adoring nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this Thursday, June 29th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Church, 1116 North Main Street, West Hartford. Participants are asked to kindly go directly to the Church. The burial will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.
