

Angelo Occhineri Jr, 95, of West Hartford, passed peacefully June 11th, in his home of 62 years surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was a loving gregarious and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is predeceased by his wife Marion and his daughters Linda Lucca and Diane Occhineri. Born and raised in San Basile, Italy on May 18, 1920, he was the son of the late Maria and Angelo Occhineri Sr. It was in San Basile that he tooled what would be his life long career as a custom cabinet maker. He immigrated to the United States in 1937 and honorably served in the US Army in WWII; stationed throughout Europe and served at the Battle of the Bulge. He had the honor of meeting and receiving personal accolades from General Eisenhower. After the war he married and moved to West Hartford CT, raising six children. A creative and talented cabinet maker he started his own successful business: South End Woodworking and Supply Co., which both sons currently operate in Bloomfield. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and Young Italian American Association. He was also famous for his home made wine that he made for over 40 years at his home. He was a man who lived for the welfare and wellbeing of all his family. Angelo was truly the 'Angel' of our family - his unconditional supportive love he shared with his family set the stage for generations to come. Angelo is survived by his four children: Nancy Harrison of Columbia; Peter Occhineri and wife Marita of W. Hartford; Marie and husband Tim Koepke of Colorado; and Mark Occhineri of W. Hartford. His son-in-law Frank Lucca of Florida. His grandchildren; Jon Harrison and wife Laurie of East Hampton; Marina and Sofia Koepke of Colorado and Matthew Occhineri of W.Hartford. His niece Diane Carlson and husband Kent and their children Angela, Teresa and Anthony; nephews Frank Sardo and family; Blaise and Eric Brescia and families; Robert, Tony and Andy Brescia. Funeral services will leave Monday June 15th at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford.
