Anna M. (Discenza) Tamburro

Anna M. (Discenza) Tamburro, 86, of Hartford, beloved wife for 61 years of Lucio Tamburro, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, September 8, 2016. Born in Baranello, province of Campobasso, Italy on September 22, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Isabella (Manocchio) Discenza. Anna enjoyed her trips to the casino, cooking and visiting family in Italy and Canada, but Anna’s life revolved around her family and there was nothing she loved more than spending time with them. Anna was extremely proud of her Italian heritage and she passed on to her family many old traditions that they will proudly continue in her memory. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her son, Giuseppe Tamburro and wife Carmelina of Hartford; three adored granddaughters, Anna Maria Mennella and husband Salvatore of Rocky Hill, Sonia Tamburro of Newington and Luciana DeGray and husband Adam of NC. In addition she leaves her cherished great-granddaughter, Ariana who stole her heart on the day she was born. She is also survived by three sisters, Flora Discenza and Elena Discenza of Italy along with Maria Sessa of Glastonbury. She will be especially be missed by Domenico and Maria Romanelli and Antonio and Letizia Romanelli whom she considered her family. In addition she leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends who loved her very much. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Nicola Tamburro.

Funeral services will be Monday at 9 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Luke’s Church, 66 Bolton St., Hartford. Entombment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
