

Anne Marie Sapere, 86, of Glastonbury, wife of the late Emil Sapere, died peacefully Tuesday (January 5, 2010) at Hartford Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Hartford, Anne was a resident of Wethersfield prior to moving to Glastonbury. She graduated from Bulkeley High School worked for Rivard Opticians for many years before her marriage. She was an accomplished roller skating dancer in her youth and was an avid golfer and bowler throughout her life. Anne loved to dance and travel and most importantly lived for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Anne is survived by her three loving children; two sons, Emil Sapere, Jr. and his wife Mary Sapere of Glastonbury, Michael Sapere of Glastonbury; a daughter, Renee Singer and her husband Jay Singer of Glastonbury; a daughter-in-law, Linda Lastoff of Wilbraham, MA; six cherished grandchildren; Kristina Kearney and her husband Michael Kearney of Glastonbury, Emil Sapere III and his wife Tracey Sapere of Tolland, Taryn O'Brien of Charleston, RI, Danielle O'Brien of Boca Raton, FL, Brittney Sapere and Alyssa Sapere, both of Glastonbury; four adored great grandchildren, Brianna Kearney and Colby, Chase and Ava Sapere. Anne was predeceased by a son Gregg Sapere and a brother and two sisters. Funeral will be Friday, January 8 beginning at 10 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Church, 2577 Main Street, Glastonbury. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be TODAY, Thursday January 7th from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral chapel in Wethersfield. Memorial contributions in Anne's name may be made to the Ruby Slipper Cancer Foundation for Children, 2842 Main Street, Suite 235, Glastonbury, CT 06033. Ruby Slipper is a non-profit organization that was started in honor of Anne's great-granddaughter Brianna, a cancer survivor and supports the cancer programs at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
