Attorney Frederick E. Petrelli, Jr., 67, of Wethersfield, beloved father and husband of Dorna Burrows, died suddenly Tuesday (September 6, 2011) at Hartford Hospital. Born in New Haven, he was the son of the late Frederick E. and Elsie (D'Ambra) Petrelli and lived in Wethersfield since 1976. He was a graduate of Marietta College and UConn School of Law. He was a member of the American Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association and had been a practicing attorney for over 37 years. Frederick was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. Active in community affairs, he served on the Wethersfield Planning & Zoning Commission, the Wethersfield Board of Education and later the Wethersfield Town Council, and was a member of the Wethersfield Chapter of UNICO National. Beyond his professional and civic accomplishments his most treasured role was as father and grandfather. Fred was a man who always thought of others before himself and was loved by many more than he could ever realize. He was a tremendous chef, always cooking enough for the ""army"" of extended friends and family who constantly found themselves invited over for dinner. He was also very handy and had a tool to fix anything. An avid follower of politics, Fred always had an opinion, and was famous within his family for his sharp wit and famous one-liners. In addition to his wife, Dorna, he is survived by his son, David Marc Petrelli and his fianceé Victoria Banks of Nashville, TN; his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Ann and Sean Farrelly of Wethersfield; his sister Patricia Petrelli of Wallingford as well as the three apples of his eye, his grandchildren Nicholas, Cooper and Kaitlyn. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Diane (DeLucco) Petrelli and his sister, Catherine Petrelli.
The funeral is Friday at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield.
