She was the loving daughter of Joan Mathis, born in Hartford on August 22, 1995. When Autumn was born, the doctors told her mother that she had only years to live. Needless to say, she defied those odds. Autumn never let her disability stand in her way or define her and she proudly graduated from Wethersfield High School in 2015. She loved her teachers Mrs. P and Mrs. R. who loved her just as much and were always happy to work with Autumn as their student. She loved her favorite character, Barney and the company of other children. She also loved Camp Sunrise during the summer months.
Autumn was so full of life, happiness, love and joy. She just loved everyone she came in contact with.
Besides her mother, Joanies Mathis and her father, Arvid Leftwich, she leaves her siblings, Juanita Lumpkin, Robin Leftwich, Amber Leftwich and Donna Leftwich along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Rosa May Mathis and grandfather, John Wright.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a celebration of Autumn’s life from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17th at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
