

Barbara (Lumbard) Arute, 59, beloved wife of Frank E. Arute for 39 years, departed this life on Friday, July 29, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous five year battle with cancer. Barbara was born on November 8, 1956 in Bristol and was the daughter of Barbara (Brigham) Lumbard of Plainville and the late Carlton Lumbard. Barbara was a 1974 graduate of Plainville High School, she worked for Allstate Insurance NE Regional Office, formerly in Farmington, for over 20 years in various capacities. Barbara put her career on hold to raise her family, returning to work in 2008 for Pezzulo Financial in Rocky Hill. She earned her P&C insurance license and during her career made many friends and associates in the insurance and financial fields. Barbara loved to travel and enjoyed the beach. As newlyweds, Barbara and Frank spent weekends at the family cottage in Westbrook as well as sailing their boat in Long Island Sound. More recently they enjoyed vacationing at the New Jersey Shore and Maryland beaches where many cherished memories were made. Although her greatest joy in life were her two beloved children, she was extremely proud of their accomplishments, both academically and professionally. In addition to her husband, Barbara leaves her son Frank C. Arute and his wife Kim of Los Angeles, CA. and her daughter Lauren Arute of Brooklyn, NY.; she also leaves behind her brother Ralph Lumbard and his wife Sandra of Bristol; her sister Cheryl Benvenuto and her husband Rudy; her special nephew and Godson Michael Benvenuto of Avon; sister-in-law Cindi Calcinari and her husband Michael of West Simsbury and her brother-in-law William Arute of Westbrook. In addition she will be missed by her Eskie dog Brooklyn. A wonderful woman who touched so many lives, Barbara will be missed by all who knew her, especially, her friends from the gym and their monthly card game nights. Barbara’s family would like to thank the many healthcare professionals that supported her through her battle, especially Karen, Beth, Elaine and Brenna. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 5th at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield, everyone is asked to go directly to church. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will be private.
