

Betty Mae (Macdonough) Pomroy, 85, beloved wife of the late Harold Richard Pomroy, passed away peacefully with her four children by her side on November 18, 2017. She was born on June 11, 1932 to Wellington Churchill and Beatrice (Wasson) Macdonough. She was a graduate of Wethersfield High School and attended Tuthill Secretarial School. Betty worked for Hartford Hospital as a medical secretary and later for the First Church of Christ in Wethersfield as secretary to the Associate Minister. She was very active in many outreach programs such as Project Concern and World Vision. Betty and her husband enjoyed 50 years of marriage, living in Wethersfield with family and friends. Her love of the ocean, writing and reading, crafts and family, was shared with her husband, children and grandchildren and will be carried forward for generations to come.
Betty leaves her daughter Linda Jean Allen and her husband Michael of Charlestown, NH and her grandchildren , Kristin, Patrick and Jennifer and her great grandchild Nora; her son Richard Warren Pomroy and his wife Mary Lee of Bridgewater, MA and her grandchildren Jacqueline and Molly; her son, Robert Churchill Pomroy and his wife Charlene of Essex and her grandchildren, Eric and Ryan; her daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Hasson and her husband Richard of St Croix, U.S.V.I. and her grandchildren Taylor and Christopher. Betty also leaves her sister Nancy (Macdonough) Jennings of Michigan.
A memorial service will be held on Friday (November 24) at 2 pm at the First Church of Christ, 250 Main Street, Wethersfield. There will be no calling hours, and burial is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Franciscan Home Care and Hospice, 267 Finch Avenue, Meriden, CT 06451.
