Carmela (Iatauro) Cusano

Carmela (Iatauro) Cusano, 91, of South Glastonbury, beloved wife for more than 60 years of the late Francesco “Frank” Cusano, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 5, 2016. Born in Campobasso, Italy on May 13, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Michela (Varriano) Iatauro. Carmela and Frank married in Italy in 1953 and moved to the U.S., where they settled in the South End of Hartford to raise their family. Carmela was the true matriarch of the family, she was the foundation and she always put needs of others before her own. She held true to this until her dying moments. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her son, Louis Cusano and wife Lori of Austin, TX; daughter, Maria Binette and husband Marc of South Glastonbury; her adored grandchildren, Gabriella and Nicolas of TX and Alec and Colin of South Glastonbury who will miss their ‘Nonna’ and will forever keep in their hearts the memories and blessings of her being such a huge part of their daily routine these past three years. In addition to her husband and parents, Carmela was predeceased by her brother, Giovanni Iatauro and her sister Teresa Potenza.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held this Saturday at 11a.m. at St. Paul’s Church, Main Street, Glastonbury. Everyone is asked to go directly to church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 3-7 at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
