Clayton Lester Peckham, 88, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 65 years of Carol Peckham, entered into peaceful rest on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Born on March 11, 1936 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Samuel and Catherine Peckham.
He and Carol were married on October 25, 1958, and settled in Wethersfield, where they raised their family. Clayton was very accomplished in his career and owned his own company, CLP Electric. He was a member of the Wethersfield Country Club, the Local #35 of I.B.E.W. of America, Wethersfield Historic District and volunteered at the Newington Fire Department.
For years, you would find Clayton on the sidelines of the UConn’s Women’s Basketball games, or umpiring for Wethersfield Little League Baseball games. He spent 40 years skiing and being an active member of The Red Jacket Club at Magic Mountain in Vermont. His favorite pastime was traveling around the world and spending winters in Florida.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Clayton will be forever missed by his devoted wife Carol; his children, David Peckham and his wife Brenda; Kathleen Peckham and his grandchildren, Abigail Peckham, Madysen and Keagen Buckley and two great-grandchildren, Chance and Genesis. He is survived by his sister, Virginia Rauhauser and his brother, Roger Peckham, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was sadly predeceased by his beloved granddaughter, Jillian Peckham and his seven older siblings. Clayton always had a joke to share and always made people smile by telling his stories. He will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life for Clayton Peckham will be held Saturday, June 29th at 11 a.m., at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Following the service, friends and family are invited to a luncheon to continue honoring Clayton's memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
