Concetta “Connie” (Emanuele) Marziale, 95, of Hartford, more recently of Rocky Hill and Newington, wife to her beloved John Joseph Marziale (who pre-deceased her in October 2021), peacefully passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
Connie was born in Hartford, May 13, 1926, the youngest of six children of the late Santo and Vincenza (Salemi) Emanuele. She was raised in Hartford, where she attended school, graduating from Hartford High School, Class of 1944.
She was part of the greatest generation, enduring the depression and World War II in her youth. Following her own advice to “fall in love not just with your heart but also your head”, Connie made the smart decision to marry her childhood friend John on June 11,1951, a marriage and partnership she cherished for more than 70 years.
Connie was an extraordinary person, although she would probably have considered her life quite ordinary. Her tremendous capacity for kindness and compassion set her apart as a person who, through every day small acts, made the world better for those around her - be they friends, neighbors, or even people she just met at the grocery store – but most especially for her family and friends. Her mantra was always it cost nothing to be nice and say hello.
A religious person, you could always count on Connie to add your name to her daily rosary ritual whenever you were in need.
Whether she was giving a shoulder to cry on, some good advice, a home cooked meal, or a needed pep talk to go forth and do good in the world, she was the one who would always believe in you when you needed it the most. She had a way of providing comfort and security to those around her, along with a smile, a story and some self-deprecating humor. The epitome of dignity and grace, never once did a curse escape her lips, and never did she leave a hard job undone or to be done by others if it was in her capacity to do it.
A devoted wife, loving mother to her five children, beloved aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her greatest joy was caring for and being surrounded by the people she loved most: her family. She often marveled about how blessed her life was, how lucky she felt and that through her family, she had lived a life full of love, happiness, and success.
Connie leaves her three sons Lawrence “Larry” (Sharon) Marziale of Sarasota, FL, John Marziale of Rocky Hill, and Nicholas Marziale of South Windsor; her two daughters, Jean (Peter) Barrett of Guilford and Carol (Jason) Dodge of South Glastonbury. In addition, she leaves her adored eleven grandchildren, Michael Marziale, Christina (Dave Rosado) Marziale, Kate (Jeff) Metzger, Maggie (Jared) Lefaivre, Michael (Christina) Barrett, JP Barrett, Christopher Marziale, Jonathan Marziale, Taylor (Lindsey) Dodge, Ryan (Stacy) Dodge and Matthew Dodge. She also leaves six cherished great-grandchildren, with two more on their way, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband and parents, Connie is predeceased by her grandchildren Peter Marziale and Caroline Barrett; her five siblings, Lorenzo, James, Joseph, Frances and Bruno Emanuele.
Connie’s funeral services will be private and have been entrusted to the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, Wethersfield. For online expressions of sympathy to the family, please visit www.desopofuneralchapel.com.
