Donald L Litke

Donald L. Litke ,79, beloved husband of the late Ann M. Litke, peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday , January 8th ,2008 with his daughter by his side. Born in Hartford, CT, he worked as a mail handler for the US Postal Service for thirty seven years. Don resided in East Hartford CT most of his life and moved to Eustis, Florida in 1990. He was a dedicated and honorary member of Eustis Moose Lodge 874, Eustis Lodge 1578 B.P.O.E, VFW Post 8087 of Eustis, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Don was an avid bowler and volunteered at the Moose Lodge. He will be missed dearly by his daughter Catherine Litke and her husband Dale Kirshnitz of East Hartford, CT, sons Ronald Litke and his wife Mollie of Carnegie, PA; Stephen Litke of Healdsburg, CA; Thomas Litke and his wife Lisa of Tolland, CT ; and Paul Litke of East Hartford, CT. He is also survived by his brother Ernest Litke and his wife Lou of Eustis,FL; his sister Marguerite Litke of Hartford,CT; brother-in-law Chester Poplawski and his wife Cathy of Martinsburg, WV; a cousin Olga Lock of Ormond Beach FL; and special friend Anne Kreider of Clermont FL , as well as many nieces and nephews. He cherished and was very proud of his five grandchildren; Jacob, Ashley, Emily and Adam Litke of Tolland CT and Sara Ann Litke of Carnegie, PA. Don was also predeceased by a brother, William; a sister, Ruby; and his grand daughter Hannah Catherine Litke. Don will always be remembered for his love of music, dancing, and his sense of humor. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at the D?Esopo Funeral Home at 30 Carter Street, East Hartford, CT on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 from 10am to 11:30am. Burial with military honors will immediately follow in Mount St. Benedict?s Cemetery, Bloomfield,CT.
