
Edith (Orefice) D'Esopo, 99, loving wife of the late Donato A. D'Esopo, passed away peacefully, Friday, (October 2, 2009) in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born September 21, 1910 in Hartford and was the daughter of the late Giacomo and Maria (Forte) Orefice. Edith was past president and Charter member of the Daughters of Queen Marguerite, a social club for young Italian women. She also served as an officer of the Hartford Opera Guild and was a member of Boys' Town as an active volunteer participating in many fund raising activities. Edith was a member of the Women's Club of St. Timothy's Church, West Hartford and was forever a fan of Yale University (her husband's alma mater) and rarely missed a football game. She was predeceased by five brothers, a sister and a granddaughter, Jessica L. Saal. She is survived by two daughters, Diane Meader of Bermuda Run, NC and Carol Saal (Harry) of Palo Alto, CA; four grandchildren, Jennifer Esser (Doug) of Doylestown, PA. Karen Starets (Tim) of Winston Salem, NC, Cortland J. Meader (Elizabeth) of Bermuda Run, NC. and Nathaniel Saal (Susan) of Palo Alto, CA; 10 great grandchildren, Max, Alex and Joshua Meader, Benjamin, Andrew and Ethan Esser, Alexa andBrooke Starets, Jared and Dalia Saal. Calling hour will be Tuesday from 9:15-10:15 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield with a Prayer Service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral chapel.
