

Elizabeth “Beth” Mae Knapp, 86, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2023. Born in Wethersfield on April 18, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Albert L. and Marjorie (Wells) Knapp. Beth obtained her nursing degree from Meriden Hospital and worked in the office of the love of her life, Obgyn Dr. O’Regan in Meriden.
A loving sister, aunt and great-aunt, Beth will be forever missed by her two brothers, John Knapp and wife Monica of Colchester and Albert L. Knapp, Jr. and wife Gail of Parker, CO, her sister, Henrietta Brodeur of Cromwell, her dear nephews and nieces, Eric Knapp and wife Eileen of Wethersfield, Theron J. Knapp and wife Jackie of Trumbull, John L. Knapp and wife Rachel of Holly Springs, NC, Tamsen Huver and husband Greg of Vancouver, WA, Kelley Knapp of San Antonio, TX, Justin Carreiro and wife Shannon of Parker, CO, Lynn Brodeur of Westbrook and Steven Brodeur of Cromwell, as well as many adored great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, T. William “Chief” Knapp and her nephew, Kyle W. Knapp. Her special thanks go to lifetime family friend and neighbor Jackie Nagle, Great Nephew's Dylan, Andrew and Jason, Great Niece's Alexa, Caroline and Abby, for their love, assistance and caring attention during the last few years.
As a child, Beth grew up attending the Griswoldville Chapel and was a 50+ year lifetime member of First Church Wethersfield. Beth's true passions were nursing and her family, specifically her nieces and nephews whom she loved to take on special trips to varied U.K. and Disney destinations. She was affectionately known to everyone as "Aunt Beth" and was always there for child care needs, to provide rides, and attended all of the games, school concerts, graduations, etc. that she could. Her favorite activity in retirement was reading to 2nd and 3rd graders in both Meriden and Wethersfield public schools. She was a lifelong Wethersfield (Griswoldville) resident who loved her town and its fire and police departments. Beth loved both the UConn men's and women's basketball teams and would attend football games when she could.
The funeral service will be Friday, August 18 at 10 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Donations in Beth’s memory may be made to the Griswoldville Chapel, 176 Griswold Road, Wethersfield.
