

Elvira (Ricci) Ferrera, 82, of Wethersfield, beloved wife for 45 years of the late Ernesto Ferrera, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Manchester Manor with her loving family by her side. Born on January 5, 1939 in Fontechiari, Province of Frosinone, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Paolo and Cristina (Benacquista) Ricci. Elvira worked in the housekeeping department at Hartford Hospital for many years. She loved to cook and tend her garden, but her greatest joy was taking care of her grandchildren.
A loving mother and grandmother, Elvira will be forever missed by her two daughters, Rita Ferrera-Giel and her husband Robert Stock and Velia Lank and her husband William, all of Wethersfield and her three adored grandchildren, Roberta Giel of Nashville, TN and Allison Lank and William Lank, both of Wethersfield. She is also survived by her brother, Americo Ricci and wife Liberata of Rocky Hill and her sister, Carolina Buonacquisto of Hartford, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members, both in the U.S. and in Italy.
Funeral services will begin on Saturday (August 21st) at 9 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Britain. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday (August 20th) at the funeral chapel.
