Eugene Fox Smith Jr.

Eugene Fox Smith, Jr., 69, of Windsor Locks, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 25, 2024, with family by his side. Gene was born in Hartford and was son to the late Eugene F. Smith, Sr., and Marie (Morin) Smith.

Gene owned and operated Smitty’s Convenience Store, in Ashford for 25 years. He had also worked for McDonald’s Corp. for about 25 years.

He enjoyed watching his favorite team – New York Yankees and spending time with family, and will be remembered for a lifetime of great memories. He left us too soon and will be greatly missed.

He will be dearly missed by his son, Eugene F. Smith, III of Windsor Locks, his brothers; William “Billy” Smith of West Hartford, John Smith of Tolland, James Smith of Newington, his sisters; Patricia Johnson of Wethersfield, Mary Ethier of Columbia and Linda Smith of West Hartford and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. He also leaves his beloved grandson, Landon Joseph Smith-Devenitch and is also survived by two uncles; Thomas Morin of Bristol and Sonny Morin of Bloomfield. He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Thomas Smith.

A time of visitation will be held Monday, March 4, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, followed by a Prayer Service at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield.
