On February 21, 2009 Eunice Watson Crosen, a life-long resident of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully in Hartford, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late George E. Crosen. She was born on Morrison Avenue in Wethersfield on September 18, 1927 to Arthur and Helen (Marr) Watson. She was a 1945 graduate of Wethersfield High School and Lasell Junior College, class of 1947. She married George Crosen in 1948. She was the beloved mother of eight children and grandmother of 21 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 'Eunie' is survived by her dear siblings and their spouses, Joyce Willsey, Betty Ann and Al Kottke, Tom and Leslie Watson, all of Wethersfield, Robert and Wendy Watson of Rocky Hill, The Reverend Dr. Richard and Susan Watson of Moodus, Judith and David Winer of Old Lyme, and Gary Watson of Springfield, MA; her beloved children, Janet Elwood of Belleair, FL, Patty Montanaro and her partner Paul Kravontka of Glastonbury, Doug and Mary Crosen, and Elizabeth and Steve Cormier all of Wethersfield, Peter and Claudia Crosen of Wellfleet, MA, Ted Crosen and his partner Linda Delisio of Glastonbury, and Carolyn Crosen and Erik Buchakian of Narrowsburg, NY. Eunice was predeceased by her son Richard 'Scott' Crosen. She will be missed by her cherished grandchildren, Christine, Scott and Nathan Pepin, Jason and Paige Montanaro, Jennifer, Carolyn and Doug Crosen, Ryan Eastwood and Catherine Henzy, Jeff Hodgman, Jerry, Lindsey and Ali Cormier, Sadie, Scott, Callum and Kamia Biathrow, Ingrid and Lucy Crosen, Kristin, Lauren, and Kevin Crosen, and Thor Crozakian. In addition to her husband and son, she was also predeceased by son-in-law Patrick Montanaro and daughter-in-law Patty Wyer Crosen. Beginning in 1951, Eunice and George built 'Wellfleet-by-the-Sea' cottages, a family business of seaside cottages on Cape Cod that has provided several generations of the Crosen Clan the opportunity to work together, and share the beauty of the Outer Cape. She was a lifelong and faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Wethersfield, and served on the Altar Guild for many years. Eunice's foremost joy was her family. She was extraordinarily patient, generous and compassionate, offering a helping hand to anyone in need. Her many talents included baking, knitting, and sewing, and she enjoyed bird watching and gardening. Eunice enjoyed the companionship of her pets, and through her care of them, she taught us all valuable lessons about nurturing. She was the kindest person we have ever known, and we adored her. The family wants to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Eunice's companions over the years, Mary Quaye, Maxine Murray, Jean Cato, Maxine Thompson and Anne Edwards, who provided outstanding care and comfort to Eunice and her family during the last years of her life. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28 at noon, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 300 Main Street, Wethersfield. A reception will follow at the church parish hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Eunice's name to Trinity Episcopal Church, the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111, or a charity of your choice.
