Fay Hunt, formerly of Rocky Hill, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Glastonbury Health Care after long enduring the debilitating effects of Alzheimer's Disease with strong will, good cheer and a smile. Fay was born March 22, 1934, in Connellsville, Pa., to the late Michael and Meredith (Younkins) Pinto. After the family moved to Connecticut more than seven decades ago, she never left. She lived in Manchester, graduating in 1952 from Manchester High School, and Wethersfield before spending her retirement at her favorite house on Rose Court in Rocky Hill. Fay was a longtime employee of the State of Connecticut Labor Department and a communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Wethersfield who, as a measure of her devotion, sat through endless hours of live sporting events with her late husband, Edward J. Hunt, without complaint. Eventually, she loved going to University of Hartford men's basketball games or spending an evening in New Britain watching minor league baseball - as long as they could pick up seashells on Connecticut's shoreline or spend a week each year visiting her sister on Cape Cod. Fay's greatest achievement was her grace and dignity while enduring Alzheimer's. She watched it first consume her mother, then her younger sister Susan. Fay sensed she was next, yet never revealed fear, sorrow or regret. Fay treated each of her stepchildren and grandchildren as if they were her own, a proud Maime who would spend hours playing with the kids when they were young and offer encouragement as they matured. They'll miss everything about Fay, except possibly her cooking, which she somewhat mockingly called ""peasant food."" Fay was also predeceased by sisters Joan Metcalfe and Susan Pinto and a stepson, William A. Hunt. She is survived by a sister, Marilyn Barile, and husband Francis of Portland, niece Laura Barassi and husband James of Leominster, Mass., nephew Michael Wennergren and wife Laura of Gallatin, Tenn., stepdaughters Mary Ellen Dombrowski and husband John of Wethersfield, Kathleen Hunt and husband Jack Bluestein of Sarasota, Fla., Lisa Bowman of Wethersfield and stepson Kevin Hunt of Rocky Hill. She is also survived by great nieces and nephews John and Katie Wennergren and Nicholas, Anthony and Vincenzo Barassi and step-grandchildren Jill DeLisa and husband Justin of Glastonbury, Matthew Noeker and wife Danielle of Farmington; Brittany Bowman and Brent Bowman of Wethersfield; Hilary St. Amand and husband Seth of South Windsor; Hannah Hunt of Wethersfield; Kristin Dombrowski of Nashville, Allison Dombrowski of New York and Johnny Dombrowski of New York. She is also survived by three step-great-grandchildren, Jake DeLisa and Avery DeLisa of Glastonbury, and Hunter St. Amand of South Windsor. Fay would like to thank all her friends at Glastonbury Health Care, especially her roommate and best friend, Amanda ""Dolly"" Badrick, who read her horoscope to her every day and always watched over her. She would also like to thank Luba Kusznir, with Mira Revedzuk and Roman Rudyk, for their exceptional in-home care. There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to the
