

Francesco “Ciccio” Veneziano, 92, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 35 years of the late Maria (Scalora) Veneziano, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Floridia, province of Siracusa, Sicily on September 19, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lucy (Vasile) Veneziano. Ciccio came to the U.S. in 1965 and joined the carpentry trade, becoming a skilled cabinet maker. He worked for the former Spencer Turbine, retiring as a Foreman in 1990 after many years of dedicated service.
Ciccio spent his retired days on Franklin Avenue in Hartford. He was a member of the Italian American Stars Club and Canicattinese Society, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends, drinking espresso and watching Italian soccer. He also loved visiting DiBacco’s Market for lunch and visits with friends. He was passionate about soccer and watched every Juventus game and any other Italian soccer game that was streaming on TV. He spent the other half of his time doing what he did best, being a Nonno.
A loving father and grandfather, Ciccio will be forever missed by his devoted daughter, Lucia Veneziano and her fiancé Richard Borello of Wethersfield and his adored granddaughter, Christina Pappachristou and her husband Nicholas Pappachristou of Newington. He is also survived by his sister, Lina Lombardo and husband Vincent of Florida, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Salvatrice and Sebastiano Auteri.
Calling hours will be Friday, February 2 from 8-10 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Parish at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield.
