

Frank J. DeRosa, Sr., 98, of South Huntington, NY and formerly Glastonbury, CT, beloved husband for 59 years of the late Edith (Lucente) DeRosa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Born in Hartford on December 11, 1925, he was the son of the late Anthony DeRosa, Sr. and Emanuella (Carillo) DeRosa.
A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Frank will be forever missed by his children, Frank and Gina DeRosa of Southbury and Lynn and Martin Romanelli of South Huntington, NY; his adored grandchildren, Michael DeRosa and wife Sarah, Ashlee Traverzo and husband Derrick, Christopher Romanelli and wife Monica and James Romanelli and wife Sarah and his cherished great-grandson, Ryan Traverzo. He is also survived by his beloved brother-in-law and friend, Thomas Queno; two sisters, Jacqueline Chicoine and Edwina “Dolly” Straceski, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his wife and parents, Frank was sadly predeceased by his beloved daughter, Sueanne Braceland and four siblings, John, Geraldine, Anthony and Donald.
Frank retired from Terry Steam Turbine Company after 44 years of dedicated service. He served as a department lead, a group leader and retired in 1987 as a department supervisor. During his tenure, he served as Chief Steward and Financial Secretary of Local 289. He was dedicated to union practices and principles, as well as employee rights. After retirement, Frank began a new career as an independent contractor and established Frank DeRosa Contracting. Frank was a consummate handyman with a gifted talent for all trades. He particularly loved gardening and caring for his home. In his later years, Frank dedicated his life to caring for his beloved wife Edith until her passing.
Calling hours will be Saturday, January 13 from 9-10:15 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. James Church of St. Josephine Bakhita Parish, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill.
