Fred P. Valente, 81, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband for 58 years of Adrienne (Landry) Valente, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Born in Hartford on November 23, 1942, he was the son of the late Rocco and Emma (Saccente) Valente. Fred grew up in Hartford, graduating from Bulkeley High School (1961) and Prince Tech (1963) for Electrical and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from ECSU. He served proudly in the U.S. Army National Guard and Reserves for 29 years, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. Fred worked for the Town of Wethersfield for 49 years, serving as the town’s Chief Building Inspector for 33 of those years.
Fred was a member of The Wethersfield Fish & Game Club, The Rocky Hill Rifle & Pistol Club and the Over the Hill Gang Eastern Chapter Car Club, owning a number of antique automobiles over the years. He enjoyed target shooting and was a certified pistol instructor, teaching many to shoot and enjoy the sport.
Fred took great pride in the home he built in Eastham, MA and was most relaxed sitting by the water with a radio in his lap listening to 50/60’s music. He was a NY Giants fan, a Yankees fan and the biggest fan of everything his grandsons participated in, never missing an event of any kind.
A loving husband father and grandfather, Fred will be forever missed by his devoted wife Adrienne; two daughters, Michelle Valente Wolf of Rocky Hill and Cheryl Valente of Richmond, VA and his two adored grandsons, Kyle Wolf of Wethersfield and Ryan Wolf of Rocky Hill. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Valente and wife Jocelyn of Wethersfield; nephew, Nicholas Valente and wife Dayna and many cousins and truly wonderful friends.
We as a family thank everybody who sent caring thoughts and prayers; your joyous visits always brought a warm thankful smile to Fred’s face. Gramps always ended his calls and visits with a simple “Love You.” We Love You too Gramps and forever will.
The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, April 23rd at 11 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
