Frederick (rick) Dowdy

Frederick W. 'Rick' Dowdy, 77, of Manchester, formerly of Wethersfield died Monday (February 22, 2010) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Roanoke, VA, son of the late Douglas and Martha (Reed) Dowdy, Rick lived in the Hartford area for many years. He was employed as a corrections officer, serving as a lieutenant, by the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections. Rick enjoyed Civil War reenactments but most of all his life was devoted to his children and being a great caring dad. Rick is survived by two cherished children, a son Stephen Dowdy of Wethersfield and a daughter, Elizabeth Dowdy of Wethersfield and a brother, Paul Dowdy of Charlotte, NC. Funeral services will be Tuesday March 2, at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 250 Main Street, Wethersfield at 1 pm with the Rev. Van Hall officiating. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. There are no calling hours. D'Esopo Funeral Chapel of Wethersfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
