Girts Edgar Agirs

Girts Edgars Agirs, 82, a longtime resident of Wethersfield, beloved husband to Carol (Sinisgalli) Agirs, peacefully passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 in Hartford Hospital. Born January 26, 1939 and raised in Riga, Latvia he was the adored child of Arnolds H. and Nataljia (Stalbergs) Agirs. The family emigrated to America in 1950, where they made Hartford their home. He attended Hartford schools, graduating from Hartford Public High School, Class of 1957.

After graduation, Girts entered the military, serving our country in the United States Air Force, in the air defense command from 1957-1962. He returned home after being honorably discharged and entered the Ward Technical College where he earned an Associates Degree. He then met his future bride Carol, and moved to Wethersfield in 1965, where they began and raised their new family.

Girts began his work career in 1965 with IBM, as a Field Service Technician. During his tenure, he rose thru the ranks to the position of Parts Accounting Manager, prior to his retirement in 1995.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who cherished any time he spent with his family. Along with his wife Carol, Girts will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving family, his son Allan A. Agirs of Wethersfield; his daughter and son-in-law, Amber A. and Andrew Bordley; two cherished grandchildren, Brandon N. Bordley and Brooke Bordley, all of Wallingford.

Friends and family may pay their respects to the Girts family Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield. The family has requested that all attendees wear masks while inside the building. A graveside prayer service will follow the visitation in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Section 20), Hartford. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society, CT Chapter, 111 Founders Plaza, East Hartford, CT 06108.
