

Gladys (Satko) Rataic of Wethersfield, CT, beloved wife of Michael Rataic for 62 years, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the age of 87. She was born in Hartford, CT, and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Kozma) Satko. She was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, and retired from A.I.G. Insurance Company. Gladys was a faithful communicant of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford, CT. She loved spending time with her family, her grandchildren and great grandson. In addition to her devoted husband Michael, Gladys will be dearly missed by her three daughters, Carolyn Rataic, Catherine Doolittle (Kenneth) of, NY and Joanne Rataic of Wethersfield; her five adored grandchildren, Sabrina Doolittle (Peter Schober), Shawn Doolittle; Brian McNelly and wife Kristie, Jennifer McNelly and Michael McNelly; her cherished great-grandson, Owen McNelly and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Helen and Stanley Sopelak and their son Richard; Bronislawa Satko; Edward and Dorothy Satko, Stanley Satko and Joseph Satko. In addition, Gladys leaves many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as her at home coffee club friends, all adding distinct, memorable chapters to her life story. Gladys's passions in life were her children, grandchildren and family. She was an avid reader. Sunday dinners kept the family a tight unit, with three generations always present. Gladys taught her family to love and respect the elderly and each other. Frequent Sunday drives to the ocean built lasting memories with dad at the helm, culminating in a picnic at the end of the day. Laughter was contagious on all of these trips. She always thought of others before herself. Sacrifice was evident by actions of her daily living. Gladys lived an extraordinarily wonderful life and will be remembered with love. Funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford. The burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
