

Grant Michael Stanton, 24, of Wethersfield, beloved son of Leigh M. Stanton of Wethersfield and Janice (Root) Stanton of Rocky Hill, was called home on Thursday, (June 27, 2013). He bravely endured, confronted and fought cancer. Born in Hartford on June 14, 1989. He was a 2007 graduate of Wethersfield High School. He earned an Associates Degree from Manchester Community College and was pursuing his Bachelors Degree at UCONN. Sports were a big part of Grant's life, most recently playing softball with 'Capital Construction' for the town league, as well as being a league board member. He was a devoted Red Sox and UCONN Basketball fan. A kind, loving soul and friend to all, Grant saw the good in everyone. He'll be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, fashionable wardrobe, and most of all, his sincerity and humility. In addition to his parents, Grant will be dearly missed by his sister, Haley Stanton; maternal grandmother, Sylvia Root; stepfather, Peter Mantovani; stepbrother, Mark Mantovani; aunts and uncles, Leslie and Kevin Vonderkall, Pamela Christian, Andy Root and Maureen Tobin and Ted and Kelly Root; cousins, Adam and Zachary Vonderkall and Danny and Sammi Root, as well as his best friends, Dave Herold, Pete Brzezicki and Mike Sanzaro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 3 at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
