Holly Beck Clark, 62, of Rocky Hill, formerly of Wethersfield, passed away after a short but courageous battle with ALS on December 30. Holly was born in Hartford on April 11, 1955 to the late Roger and Ruth (Hottinger) Beck. Holly grew up on Dale Road in Wethersfield and graduated from Wethersfield High School. She then attended Allegheny College earning a Bachelor’s in French and Music, and continued on to Case Western University, earning a Master’s in Library Science. She worked at Ohio State University as a drug information librarian, then returned to Connecticut where she worked in the library at Hartford Hospital as a clinical librarian for the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit. Other jobs included being a librarian at the Glastonbury Public Library and in retirement, working at Dinosaur Park and Kohl’s Department Stores. Holly and her loving husband of 35 years, Joseph G. Clark, moved to Rocky Hill in 1985 and have remained there to the present day, raising two sons in the Rocky Hill school system. Holly was supportive in their school, church music, and Boy Scout activities and proudly helped both boys achieve Eagle rank. She had a love for music and her church, First Church of Christ in Wethersfield, where she joined church groups and sang regularly in David Spicer’s concerts. When she wasn’t singing, she served as a deacon for six years. Holly thoroughly enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe. She enjoyed science-fiction, mysteries, and craft beers.
Not only will she be sadly missed by her devoted husband, Joe, but she is also survived by her two adored sons, Bryan Clark of Boston and Andrew Clark of Rocky Hill; her aunt Edith Stockton of West Virginia; her uncle Richard Beck of Florida; her brother in-laws Ralph and Scott Clark and her sister in-laws Tammy and Lisa Clark.
Besides her mother and her father, who often called Holly his ray of sunshine, Holly was predeceased by her brother Christopher Beck and uncle Ralph Hottinger.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday (January 5) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield, concluding with a funeral service at 6 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. Donations may be made in memory of Holly to the ALS Association of Connecticut, 4 Oxford Rd., Unit E4, Milford, CT 06460.For online expressions of sympathy, please visit www.desopo.com.
