Joe Battaglini

Joe Battaglini, 57, beloved husband of Virginia (DeCapite) Battaglini for 35 years, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, (December 30, 2008). He was born September 28, 1951 in Pacentro, Italy, the son of Salvatore and Anna (DiPilla) Battaglini of Italy. He was employed as a welder at Otis Elevator Company for over 21 years. Joe had the ability to fix anything and enjoyed gardening and making his own wine, but his greatest joy in life was his family. He was proud of his family, his garden and his accomplishments since coming to the United States in 1970. Joe was a happy man and loved being around people. Including his parents and wife, he is survived by his son, Joseph Battaglini of Newington; his daughter Anna Maria Battaglini of Wethersfield ; his sister Loredana Battaglini and his two brothers Mauro and Fernando Battaglini all of Italy; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Francesco and Angiolina DeCapite of Middle Village, NY; his brother-in-law Frank DeCapite and his wife Ann Marie of Woodbury, NY; his sister-in-law Loreta DelVicario, (whose nickname for Joe was Farmer Joe) and her husband Robert of East Northport, NY; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Funeral services will leave Saturday, January 3, at 11 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield for a 12 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield. Entombment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
