Johanna Pace (Mozzicato) of South Glastonbury and Old Lyme left this world surrounded by her loving family on May 17, 2016 after a long illness and successfully beating cancer on three separate occasions. She was a wonderful wife, mother, 'nonni', aunt, godmother, cousin and friend to everyone who knew her. She leaves behind her best friend and husband of 63 years, Gus and her four sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Lori of Cromwell, Larry and Tori of Glastonbury, Rick and Kathie of Highland Park, NJ and Andy and Jennifer of Simsbury. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Matt, Drew and Mark of Cambridge, MA, Chris and Steve of Glastonbury, Meghan of Highland Park, NJ and Luke and Cate of Simsbury, her cherished 'grand pups' Alberto and Webster, who brought her great comfort and joy and her 'fifth son' Jim Poharcyk of Rocky Hill, who was always there when she needed him. She was predeceased by her parents, Emanuel and Santa Mozzicato and her sister, Mary. Johanna was born in Hartford on November 20, 1930 and attended Bulkeley High School, where she later worked for many years. She spent her summers at Old Colony Beach in Old Lyme, where she made many dear friends and created many wonderful memories. Johanna was all about her family and friends - cooking for every holiday, summer dinners at the beach and playing cards. She never forgot to acknowledge a birthday or significant event. She loved the casino, the New York Giants, New York Yankees, UConn basketball, was an avid reader, gardener and always had an educated opinion on any topic you might raise.
