
John W. Dombrowski, Sr., age 91, of Newington, beloved husband of Amelia (Bell) Dombrowski, died Monday March 23, 2009 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Ciurkot) Dombrowski and had lived in Newington since 1957. Prior to his retirement in 1984 John was an accountant for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He was a proud WW II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as being a counselor for the Columbian Squires, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and active retreatant at the Holy Family Retreat League. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter J. Dombrowski and his wife Joann of Manchester and Atty. John W. Dombrowski, Jr. and his wife Mary Ellen of Wethersfield; his adored grandchildren, Kimmy Dombrowski, Sandy Morrissey, Kristin Dombrowski, Allison Dombrowski, John W. Dombrowski, III, Jill Noeker DeLisa and Matthew Noeker; two cherished great-grandchildren, Nichole and Brittany, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members. John was the last surviving member of his family, having been predeceased by all five of his siblings. The funeral is Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary?s Church, Newington. Burial with full military honors will be in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. The family will receive relatives and friends today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
